Overview
The Shadow is one of the six playable Classes in Levelite. Operating as the quintessential assassin, Shadows are masters of stealth and subterfuge who use cunning, speed, and precision to dismantle their foes before they can react.
Shadows are designed for players who prefer a high-risk, high-reward playstyle. They excel at dealing massive amounts of damage and manipulating turn order, prioritising agility and Dark Magic over raw endurance.
A skilled Shadow dictates the flow of battle, striking lethally and retreating into the darkness when necessary.
Powers and Abilities
Choosing the Shadow class grants the user several offensive and tactical advantages.
Absolute Initiative
In solo battles, the Shadow's speed is unmatched, guaranteeing that they always attack first.
This ability allows Shadows to establish control over an encounter immediately, potentially eliminating dangerous enemies before they have a chance to act.
Double Strike
When participating in group battles, such as Raids, the Shadow attacks twice per turn, effectively doubling their base action output.
This makes Shadows one of the party's primary sources of damage during Raids.
Dark Affinity
All shadow-based magic and attacks are amplified, granting a permanent +8% Dark Damage bonus.
This passive makes Dark Damage-focused builds particularly effective.
Tactical Retreat
The Shadow is the only class that can choose to flee from active Dungeons and Raids.
This escape mechanic allows players to retreat from dangerous encounters, but it comes at the cost of consuming Mana.
Weaknesses
Fragile Defenses
To compensate for their overwhelming speed and damage output, Shadows have significantly lower resilience than other classes.
They suffer a permanent +12% Damage Taken penalty from all enemy sources, making them extremely vulnerable if they fail to eliminate their targets quickly.
Shadows rely on ending fights efficiently rather than enduring prolonged exchanges of damage.
Equipment
Equipment Type
Light
Magical
Shadows benefit from equipment that enhances their offensive capabilities, particularly items that improve Dark Damage and other relevant combat attributes ( +20% stats )
When selecting equipment, prioritise:
Dark Damage bonuses.
Offensive stats that improve damage output.
Attributes that complement an aggressive combat style.
Because Shadows take 12% more damage, equipment and party composition that help compensate for their fragility can also be valuable.
Skill Progression
Shadow progress through the Ironhold Skill Core. After selecting the class, players unlock abilities by advancing through the Ironhold skill tree. Shadow builds should focus on skills that complement their high-speed, high-damage playstyle.
When developing a build, consider prioritising:
Skills that maximise burst damage.
Dark Damage-focused abilities.
Skills that take advantage of turn-order manipulation.
Abilities that support survival and tactical retreat.
The effectiveness of a Shadow depends on choosing a loadout that maximises damage while accounting for its defensive weaknesses.
Recommended Skill Branches
Players are free to choose any skill branch that best suits their preferred playstyle. However, the following progression is recommended for the Shadow class.
Each class has three skill branch tiers: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced.
1. WARRIOR'S FORGE — Basic Tier
WARRIOR'S FORGE is the foundational skill branch and a mandatory starting point for all classes belonging to the IRONHOLD Skill Tree.
Its core skill is:
Fury's Twin Blades
This branch establishes the fundamental combat techniques required to progress into more specialized melee-oriented skill branches.
2. BLOODPATH — Intermediate Tier
BLOODPATH is the intermediate skill branch, focusing on aggressive melee combat, sustained offensive pressure, and powerful physical attacks. Its abilities allow the Shadow to inflict bleeding damage while maintaining relentless pressure on enemies.
Its core skills are:
Crimson Rend — Inflicts Bleed on the target, dealing damage over time and applying sustained offensive pressure.
Crushing Assault — Delivers a powerful melee attack designed to inflict heavy damage and overwhelm opponents.
This branch provides a solid foundation for the Shadow before progressing into the advanced tier, where speed and Dark-element damage become the primary focus.
3. NIGHTFANG — Advanced Tier
NIGHTFANG is the advanced skill branch, specializing in extreme attack speed, rapid offensive sequences, and Dark-element damage. It is designed for players who prefer an agile, aggressive combat style that overwhelms enemies through speed and lethal precision.
Its core skills are:
Bloodmoon Tempo — Increases movement or attack speed by up to 300%. This dramatic boost allows the Shadow to execute attacks at an exceptionally accelerated pace. (The exact type of speed increased depends on the skill's mechanics.)
Shadowstrike Gambit — Unleashes an attack that deals Dark-element damage, reinforcing the Shadow's lethal and elusive combat identity.
NIGHTFANG is particularly suited to players who prioritize speed, relentless aggression, and Dark-element attacks. By combining the extreme speed boost of Bloodmoon Tempo with the offensive potential of Shadowstrike Gambit, this branch allows the Shadow to overwhelm enemies before they can effectively respond.
Role in Combat
Shadows primarily serve as high-speed burst-damage dealers.
Strengths
Exceptional Speed: Always attacks first in solo battles.
High Damage Output: Attacks twice per turn during group battles such as Raids.
Dark Damage Specialisation: Gains a permanent +8% Dark Damage bonus.
Tactical Escape: Can flee from active Dungeons and Raids at the cost of Mana.
Weaknesses
Fragile Defenses: Takes 12% more damage from enemy sources.
High-Risk Playstyle: Mistakes can be heavily punished.
Limited Survivability: Relies on eliminating enemies before they can deal significant damage.
Shadows perform particularly well alongside Guardians, who can improve party survivability, and Aquamancers, who provide healing and support during prolonged encounters.
Trivia
The Shadow is the ultimate "glass cannon" in Levelite.
Its Double Strike ability makes it one of the party's main damage dealers during Raids.
Pairing a Shadow with a Guardian and Aquamancer is highly recommended to help compensate for its defensive fragility.
